365 days have gone by since a new academic center opened its doors in Buenaventura and we could not be happier with the results.
How many children can learn and experience the world as is? Much of the learning process happens outside the building for students, not within a classroom. Young children are running around, picking up plants and leaves to count or watching the trails made by ants.
The Creating Center condenses over 30 years of experience that Marilu Salvador has as teacher, mentor, facilitator and educational program director. At The Creating Center she has collected all of the ideas and concepts that she acquired through her professional career, and developed an educational model that is different; capable of including the best of the traditional system and perfecting it through a philosophy that promotes learning through creativity.
The students at the center have classes in a room but they also get to visit the other amenities that Buenaventura offers such as the Conservation Center, the beach or the Sports Club, applying a philosophy that is based on five pillars: individuality, independence, integrity, sustainability and community.
In their newsletter, The Creating Times, you can find a brief summary called “Learning in Paradise” that portrays the spirit that is felt. “In Buenaventura we are surrounded by nature: trees, lakes, different types of plants and beautiful birds! It is our classroom. Students love to see the different species of birds that visit their balconies. Each morning they set a plate with peanut butter and bird seeds for the birds to enjoy. It is a great opportunity to observe and learn about hawks, parakeets and crows and their behaviors.”
This dream began over a year ago and we have witnessed the love and passion that both Marilu and her team have for their students, preparing them for the future as wholesome and independent individuals.
“Thank you for being a part of our growing international community of parents with a vision for the future. Over 17 nationalities are represented within the family at our Center! This is only the beginning of something incredible that we will build together,” mentioned Marilu in the publication.
